About Me

My name is Jason Custer and I am currently a seminary student at Dallas Theological Seminary. I love theology, music, art, and people.

I could tell you all kinds of things "about me" but I have always found that quotes tend to articulate my thoughts better than any words I can conjure up myself. One of my favorite quotes comes from Goethe, who says that "a shared joy is a doubled joy." That's why this blog exists - because my joy is doubled in sharing things with others, and (hopefully) your joy is doubled by what I share.

In my blog, Leading Captivity Captive, I share insights I come upon throughout the weeks. They typically are incited by quotes in books I read, songs I hear, or things from my studies at seminary or personally. There's really nothing novel in anything I write - I stand on the shoulders of many giants,  but I find that writing helps me remember and recount what I am learning

Also, I have recently been getting into photography since the part-time job I have here in Dallas has me working on the website of a European antique furniture store. Shooting photos of all the pieces in our showroom at Adele Hunt's European Collectibles has opened up a love for photography that I never really knew I had. So I've just started posting photos in my Photography section. Perhaps it runs in the Custer blood because my sister does full-time wedding & portrait photography in Houston, and I have quite the shoes to fill to follow after her - you should check out her website: christinashippeyphotography.com. Hopefully this part of the blog will develop more as I gain skill (and actually get a camera), since I've only been doing photography for 6-8 months.

I would love your thoughts and feedback on either section since I know I have much to learn in both areas! Thanks for coming to visit and sharing in my joy.

Xaire,

-Jason
